About our pets

Our dogs are Charlie (Charles Winston Arthur) a Golden Retreiver with a kink in his tail and Akeira De’Vil, who is a head-strong Alaskan Malamute.  Bob (Robert Noire) our black Labrador / Border Collie cross died in March 2009 at the age of 11 years. He will be missed by all the family and our friends as he was a great family dog.

Our ferrets are Mr Chips, Mayo, Mimi, ‘Mad’ Max, Tommy, Stanley, Maverick, Mozart, McQueen, Oliver, Mort, Maurice, Matilda and Miss Molly.

Mr Chips and Mayo are a pair of albino brothers. We believe they were born in the spring of 2008 and we received them when they were approximately a year old.

Mimi and ‘Mad’ Max are brother and sister. They were born in May 2009 and have the more traditional ‘polecat’ markings with the ‘bandit’ face mask.

Tommy and Stanley are another pair of rescued ferrets from the STA Rescue in Sonning.  Tommy is a ‘Poley Mit’ – a ferret with polecat markings with white mittens on each foot.  Stanley died in early December 2011.  Stanley was a ‘coloured’ ferret being neither polecat or albino, but as he shed his coat he was edging towards polecat markings.

Maverick is the ‘sandy’ ferret in our ‘business’.  He was born in May 2010.  He was heading to an early grave until he was rescued with his brothers and sisters by a HBFC member from whom we adopted him.

Mozart is another dark Polecat marked ferret. He was born around the same time as Maverick, in May 2010. He was also heading to an early grave until he was rescued by another HBFC member from whom we adopted him. He’s having a rough ride trying to fit in with the rest of the group as he is that little bit older.

Oliver and McQueen were both born in June/July 2010 and handed in to the HBFC at one of the shows we attended.  Oliver is another albino and McQueen is a coloured.

Mort was born in mid-August 2010 and is believed to be a ferret/polecat hybrid.

Maurice, Matilda and Missy Molly are three little polecats born in early June 2011.

They tend to be most active around dawn and dusk, but will also wake up for feeding time.
